Bionic Eye Technologies and Increase in Eye Disease - June 30 & July 1 Show

On the last June/first July show, we'll have Dr. Shawn Kelly of Pittsburgh's Carnegie Mellon University discussing his Bionic Eye Technologies project, that involves a camera and a microchip that sends electrical stimulation to the retinal nerves.

Then, Jeff Todd of Prevent Blindness America makes a return to discuss how the prevalence of eye disease has increased in recent years.

The second guest is Dr. John Loewenstein of Harvard Medical School explaining how The Cataract Master, an interactive program that uses computer simulation technology to assist ophthalmology students with cataract surgery.

Eye on Vision will begin airing on FM 89.3 WYPL on Sundays at 1 PM on July 1.  The show will continue to air at 7 PM on Saturdays.  That Saturday show will repeat on Sundays.

Then, Cleveland Eye Clinic's Dr. Shamik Bafna talks about corneal crosslinking, which involving the bonding of collagen fibers in the cornea using riboflavin.
